If you’ve ever worried about whether your car is prime for the stealing, you’re not alone. And unfortunately, it’s not those of you who drive newer cars that really have to watch out – thieves tend to go for “older” cars, since their parts are still valuable.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau’s annual report tracks stolen vehicles as reported by law enforcement agencies. So why the older-car agenda? Thanks to both increasingly effective anti-theft devices in new cars, plus the general assumption that older cars need not be protected as carefully as newer cars, the older cars tend to be easier to steal!
Of the almost 52,000 Honda Accords stolen in 2010, the NICB says that over 44,000 of them were models made in the 1990s – over ten years old. Fewer than 5,700 were models manufactured after 2000.
So what are the top ten most-stolen cars of 2010? Let’s check out the list.
