Ten more gambling sites have come to screeching halt thanks to an undercover investigation conducted by US authorities. On Monday, Baltimore authorities seized a total of ten different domains, including a mix of poker, sportsbook, and bingo websites. TruePoker, BookMaker, and DoylesRoom were among the domains seized in a dark day many online gamblers are calling “Blue Monday.”
Poker Player Newspaper reports that those named in an indictment include Darren Wright and David Parchomchuk of ThrillX, a Canadian software solutions provider, and Ann Marie Puig of BMX Entertainment, which is based in Cyprus and operates six online gambling websites.
"It is illegal for Internet gambling enterprises to do business in Maryland, regardless of where the website operator is located," Maryland U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein said in a statement Monday. "We cannot allow foreign website operators to flout the law simply because their headquarters are based outside the country."
Blue Monday comes a month after Black Friday, the U.S. authorities’ first swipe at online poker. Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars, and Absolute Poker were among the sites affected by last month’s devastating sting.
Other domains seized on Blue Monday include 2Betsdi.com, Funtimebingo.com, Goldenarchcasino.com, Betmaker.com, Betgrandesports.com, Betehorse.com, and BetEd.com.
