I don't know too many guys who watch Dancing with the Stars, even when their favorite athletes are on the show. However, I bet a few would tune in to see how Phil Hellmuth's poker table antics transition onto the dance floor.
The gambling pro, known as "The Poker Brat" for his temperamental personality, is rumored to be temporarily trading in poker chips for dancing shoes as a member of the Season 12 DWTS cast. Fans of the show are eagerly awaiting the official announcement and taping should begin in March.
46-year-old Phil has expressed interest in competing for the sparkly mirrorball trophy in the past, however, on December 18th he tweeted: OMG! Phil Hellmuth (me!) on “Dancing with the Stars!” Outrageous! Might make a fool out of myself on Worldwide Television one more time…
Many may not consider Phil an actual "star", although he is a member of the Poker Hall of Fame and has won a record 11 World Series of Poker bracelets. He's also created several instructional poker videos, as well as written poker books under his own publishing company, Phils House Publishing. He's even has the Poker Brat clothing line and mobile games for sale!
Plus, Phil is no stranger to television appearances, since he's often seen on poker shows like Celebrity Poker Showdown, Best Damn Poker Show, and High Stakes Poker. But DWTS will surely be outside of his comfort zone. Yet, he certainly has the cocky confidence and competiveness to bring some drama to the popular dancing show!
