Since all of Russia's casinos have been relocated from large cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg to remote regions like the Far East, the liklihood of these casinos remaining in business is bleak.
The government had decided to move the casinos back in June to shut down those engaging in tax evasion, fraud, and illegal gambling.
Now most of the players visiting the casinos are from "junket tours" which are organized trips of gamblers from other countries. They pay a deposit, which includes travel fees and lodging. They gamble all they want, and if they spend enough, they receive their deposit back.
The Association of Gambling Business Representatives say with no government support, no budget, and dwindling players, there is no future for the Russian casino industry.
