In the market for a new fuel-efficient vehicle? Kelley Blue Book, the leading provider of new and used car information, recently tested four new compact sedans and found that the Honda Civic and the Hyundai Elantra are the best new sedans on the market, with both earning 7.5 out of 10 possible points. Kelley based their rankings on interior and exterior style, performance, comfort features, and more.
The Elantra earned praise for its unique style and good design, with Kelley staffers calling it “the fashionista of this test.” The Civic earned top marks for its overall value, described by staffers as “a superb example of balance, value and pedigree.” Additionally, the Civic earned top marks in performance.
Kelley Blue Book also evaluated the Ford Focus and the Chevrolet Cruze in its 2011/2012 Compact Sedan Comparison Test with the vehicles placing third and fourth respectively.
So why did Kelley decide to evaluate the four new compact sedans?
"At some point in time, most everyone drives a compact sedan, whether it is a commuter car, second car, empty nester car or even a rental car," Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com said in a release. "Because this vehicle class is an inevitable part of most American drivers' lives, we wanted to put the top new models up against each other head-to-head to see how they would fare."
