Ferrari 458 Italia, "Robb Report" Car of 2011

With 35 years as the international authority on the luxury lifestyle, the Robb Report just announced the Ferrari 458 Italia as the 2011 Car of the Year. 13 other luxury sedans, coupes and sports cars were extensively test driven in California's Napa Valley but the superb design and excellent performance of the Ferrari helped secure the win.

"For our judges, editors, writers, and anyone who just happened to be wandering by, the Fly Yellow 458 Italia was adoration at first glimpse," said automotive correspondent Paul Dean.

"This was before they heard the clattering bellow of 562 hp spitting from the triple-tip exhaust; before they touched, felt, and snuggled into the glovelike leather and drove this masterpiece; before they concluded that all things magnificent from Italian culture, from Michelangelo’s Pietà to a 1945 Brunello di Montalcino, bow before a Ferrari."

The Robb Report's Car of the Year Award is presented to an automobile that's formally introduced in the previous year and whose technical designs, styling, and performance position it as the world’s preeminent sports or luxury vehicle.

The 13 other cars considered for the honor included the Aston Martin Rapide, Aston Martin V12 Vantage, Audi A8L, Audi R8 V10 Spyder, Bentley Mulsanne, BMW Alpina B7, Cadillac CTS-V, Jaguar XJ Supersport, Lotus Evora, Maserati GranTurismo Convertible, Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG, Porsche 911 Turbo S, and Rolls-Royce Ghost.
