Mattel has developed the Hot Wheels Video Racer. It is packed with all sorts of cool electronics including a front view camera, built in LCD screen, a mini -USB port and a rechargeable battery.
It has a hefty price tag at $60.00 but is well worth the cost.
You can start the camera and then zip it through the track as you would with any other Hot Wheels car. As it goes through all the turns, loops and tunnels the dashboard view is captured on video. You can even capture it flying off a table or crashing into a wall. The good news is that there are no moving parts, so nothing can really harm the car.
Up to 12 minutes of footage can be stored with the on-board memory. There are several ways to view the video. You can watch it silently on the tiny LCD screen or use the USB port to hook it up to your MAC or PC. The USB also charges the internal battery.
It comes with a protective case that allows you to attach it to a skate board or a bike. With a little effort it can be strapped to a cat or a dog collar.
In my opinion the only thing that would make this better, is if the tiny car was a bit bigger and was remote controlled.
This toy will be available in June.
