While the grand opening is scheduled for Thursday, owners of the Hollywood Casino in Perryville just couldn’t wait any longer. They opened the doors to Maryland’s first casino today, with over 200 gamblers in the first hour.

There are no traditional table games, but the 1,500 slot machines are joined by electronic or video versions of blackjack, poker, and roulette. The casino, like its name suggests, has a Hollywood theme, with movie studios providing posters and other paraphrenalia from new films each month. Gamers can grab some grub at Extras Grill, which also features Starbucks Coffee, or opt for a larger meal at Epic Buffet.

Penn National Gaming owns over 20 Hollywood Casinos in cities all across the country. This one cost $97.5 million to get going and within 2 hours of being open, the very first jackpot of $5,122 was struck!
