AT&T Kills $10 Data Plan, Overcharges Everyone

AT&T has announced it will be discontinuing its $10/1,000 text messaging plan, and now customers will have to choose between spending 20 cents for each text message sent and received, or opting into a $20/unlimited texting plan.

Based on the pricing for AT&T’s regular data plan, the texting prices are, well… exorbitant, to say the least. The company offers a $25/unlimited data plan, which includes 2 gigabytes of data. Broken down, that’s 80 megabytes per dollar. 80 megabytes equals 500,000 text messages – and that’s if they’re the full capacity – not just something like “what’s up?” or “lol.”

Angry Consumer Crashes into $20K Cars

I guess there's no lemon law in New Hampshire. When 42-year-old David Cross tried to return a van he bought from the Portsmouth Used Car Superstore because "it was a piece of crap", he was told "you're stuck with it." So Cross decided to stick it to them.

Later that night, after waiting for his wife to fall asleep, Cross drove the lemon back to the dealership. He started ramming into cars costing over $20,000 each, including a Mercedes and a special edition Mustang.

Media Giant Conde Nast Scammed for $8 Million By One Email

The next time you’re falling short on rent money, perhaps you should look into the route that one wire-fraud expert took. Alleged wire fraudster Andy Surface sent Conde Nast one email, that appeared to have been sent by the conglomerate’s printer.

In early November, Conde Nast received an “Electronic Payment Authorization” form via email at its New York offices. The form was sent by Quad/Graphics, and requested that Conde Nast direct payments for Quad Graphics to the “Quad Graph Account, and provided account information.

New York Man Suing Facebook for $500K Over Account Deletion

A Staten Island, New York man is suing Facebook for $500K for disabling his account.

Mustafa Fteja said his account was disabled without explanation this past September, cutting off his access to his family around the world, as well as to personal memories and photos. “That was how I stayed in touch with people,” said Fteja, who estimated he had about 340 friends when he was inexplicable kicked off the site.

Fteja, 39, says he has pressed the company for months to find out what happened, but the efforts have been fruitless.

“You call, they don’t answer the phone. You write, they don’t reply,” he said – leaving him no choice but to go to court to get what he considers his property back.

Fteja said he’d been using Facebook for about three years, mainly to keep in touch with family in Montenegro, Albania, Germany, and Austria. He found out he’d been cut off on September 24, 2010, when he tried to sign onto the site unsuccessfully. After a few attempts, the site told him his account had been disabled.

NASA Reveals Cool Concept Planes

Here at MyOwnBet, we've covered cool cars and bad ass bikes but no awesome aircraft...until now. Behold the planes of the future.

In 2010, NASA awarded contracts to Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and The Boeing Company to study advanced concept aircraft designs. The designs had to meet a number of stringent NASA guidelines including less noise, cleaner exhaust, and lower fuel consumption than current planes, as well as the ability to fly up to 85 percent of the speed of sound, cover a range of approximately 7,000 miles, and carry between 50,000 and 100,000 pounds of payload, either passengers or cargo. Tha's no easy feat as you can imagine.

Here's what the three firms have come up with (so far). According to NASA's website Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and The Boeing Company will spend the rest of this year "exploring, testing, simulating, keeping and discarding innovations and technologies to make their design a winner."

One of the aircraft below could be in the skies by the year 2025. Which is your favorite?

Poker Pro Phil Hellmuth on "Dancing with the Stars"?

Phil Hellmuth

I don't know too many guys who watch Dancing with the Stars, even when their favorite athletes are on the show. However, I bet a few would tune in to see how Phil Hellmuth's poker table antics transition onto the dance floor.

The gambling pro, known as "The Poker Brat" for his temperamental personality, is rumored to be temporarily trading in poker chips for dancing shoes as a member of the Season 12 DWTS cast. Fans of the show are eagerly awaiting the official announcement and taping should begin in March.

46-year-old Phil has expressed interest in competing for the sparkly mirrorball trophy in the past, however, on December 18th he tweeted: OMG! Phil Hellmuth (me!) on “Dancing with the Stars!” Outrageous! Might make a fool out of myself on Worldwide Television one more time…

IRS Extends Tax Filing Deadline to April 18

Because of a holiday that falls on April 15 this year, the IRS announced today that taxpayers will have until April 18, 2011 to file their 2010 tax returns and pay their tax bills.

That means you get an extra three days to try and decipher what all those lines add up to!

The agency also said it would not be ready to process returns carrying itemized deductions until mid- to late-February, because it has to reprogram its processing systems following the passage of a big tax bill at the end of 2010.

April 15 is Emancipation Day, a holiday observed in the District of Columbia. Taxpayers who file for an extension will have until October 17, 2011 to file their 2010 returns.
