Amateur Rocket Blasts 121,000 Feet Above the Earth’s Surface (Video)

Derek Deville may not be a professional rocketeer, but his amateur rocket, Qu8ke, is no joke. On September 30, Deville launched Qu8ke from Nevada’s Black Rock Desert and the 14-foot, 320-pound rocket exceeded expectations, reaching a height of 121,000 feet in just 92 seconds!

A Climber's View From a 1,768 Foot Tower (Freaky Video!)

Ever wonder how maintenance men get to the top of those soaring communication towers and antennas? If this freaky video is any indication, they do it by climbing narrow ladders, gripping thin metal bars, and tip toeing on platforms scarcely wider than their feet (and they do it without a safety rope in some instances!)

Check out this video of a tower engineer climbing to the top, the VERY top, of a 1,768-foot tower. To provide some perspective, a 1,768-foot tower soars over the Eiffel Tower and The Empire State Building, and is taller even than the the Sears Tower in Chicago (the tallest building in the United States). If you aren't fond of heights I don't suggest you watch.

Hot Lava Video Isn't a Fake Says Volcanologist Geoff Mackley

Though it may appear fake, the hot lava video that has attracted nearly a million views since its posting on September 19th is the real deal. At least according to volcanologist Geoff Mackley, the man who shot the amazing video of scientist Drew Bristol rappelling and walking dangerously close to the roiling lava of a live volcano.

Mackley told the MailOnline: "I don't fake things. What would be the point of me travelling around the world to film volcanoes and earthquakes and then faking the footage?"

"A long lens, which we used, foreshortens the image so the lava looks a lot closer to Drew in his protective silver-coloured suit than it appears."

Watch the amazing video below.
