Lovers of the popular Facebook game Farmville may soon swap their swine for slots as Last Legion Games unleashes Golden Nugget Vegas Casino. The game relies on the same basic concept, where players start with a small casino with one slot machine and build it up to mega money-making monolith.
Visit your friends' casinos to earn more points and purchasing power. Add more slots and table games to bring in the high rollers. Real money gambling may be an option, but since the game is still in beta, play money is the currency currently.
Other casino games have been presented to Facebook users before, only to crash and burn. Will the Golden Nugget game succeed? According to The Business Insider, the graphics are much sharper, with avatars "that really pop", and the look and feel closely resembles that of the real Golden Nugget Casino. Even small details will be continuously updated, such as employee uniforms.
So, if you haven't been spending enough time on Facebook already, here's a great excuse to get glued to your computer!

It seems like the players who make it to the final table of the World Series of Poker each year keep getting younger and younger! Eight out of the "November Nine" this year are under the age of 30, with the youngest player at just 22!
The boys welcome a 110 day recess until the November 6th showdown at the Penn & Teller Theater at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Wondering who the lads are?
Jonathan Duhamel

From Boucherville, Quebec, this poker pro is the young gun at age 22, although he's already made some nice side cash during this year's tournament. He'll start the main event as the current chip leader with 65,795,000 chips.
John Dolan

From Bonita Springs, Florida, this 24 year old is a consistent player and will resume the game in 2nd place with 46,250,000 chips.
Joseph Cheong

Born in South Korea, but currently living in La Mirada, California, Joseph boasts a B.S. in Psychology and a joint B.A. in Math and Economics; quite the cocktail for a winning poker player. He's 24 years old and sitting pretty in 3rd position with 23,525,000 chips.

Betting on soccer is fun. Heck, betting on anything is fun! But at Slots of Fortune, you can cash in on some free money without even having to place a bet on a soccer team!
Starting today, anyone who deposits $50 or more at the casino is eligible to win $10 for every goal the U.S.A. soccer team scores in the 2010 World Cup!
"We love America, we love our players, and we love giving back to them. At Slots of Fortune we are backing the soccer team to go all the way with this amazing promotion and at the same time rewarding our loyal U.S customers. We will give players one more reason to celebrate each time the team puts one in the back of the net!" said casino manager, Michael Hill.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa begins June 11th, but Team U.S.A. is set to take the field for the first time on June 12th against England. The Americans scored 42 goals in the qualifiers so this promotion has some serious potential to pay big bucks! Go U.S.A.!
Online casinos aren't the only ones using the World Cup as a clever marketing ploy. Electronics retailer Best Buy is offering cash back on TVs and laptops at their England locations if their team can win the cup. And the Slovenian tourist board is offering free vacations if Slovenia claims the overall victory.

Many travelers and gamblers are anxiously awaiting the grand opening of the latest luxury from Hard Rock International. Having teamed up with Palace Resorts, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, at the easternmost tip of the Dominican Republic, will be the world's first ultimate all-inclusive casino resort.

Currently named the Moon Palace Resort, this all-inclusive vacation destination is undergoing the transition to become the largest casino in the Caribbean. The grand opening is rumored to be this summer, near the end of July or the beginning of August, with whispers of big performances from stars like Shakira and U2.
Guests will enjoy 48,000sq.ft. of gaming space with a high-limit poker room, a VIP lounge and a Race and Sports Book. There will also be over 900 slots and 40 tables for baccarat, blackjack, craps, and roulette.
The first question that many people ask is if the Hard Rock Cafe is included in the "all-inclusive" packages. The answer is surprisingly no, although there are 11 other restaurants and 12 bars to choose from. However, with 121 gorgeous tropical acres of white sandy beaches, golf courses, spas, and more, you should be able to let that minor setback slide. After all, there are 149 Hard Rock Cafes in 53 countries... but only 1 all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel & Casino!

With hearts pounding and legs shaking, thrill seekers are heading up to the 108th floor of the Stratosphere Hotel & Casino to take a ride on the world's highest decelertor jump called SkyJump. The only other one of its kind is located in Auckland, New Zealand with a fall of 627. SkyJump Las Vegas now holds the world record with 855 feet.
What looks like a bungee jump is actually much more controlled, with cables attached to both sides of jumpers guiding them the whole way down at around 40mph. It's being called the ultimate free fall, but it's more like a vertical zip line. The price is $99, but don't chicken out once you get up on the platform because you won't get a refund, only a voucher to try again when you grow a pair.
Is this worth the money? Or would you rather take that hundred bucks inside the casino and hope to double up? Check out the video of the grand opening.

It was just another afternoon of bluffing, blinds and antes when six masked bandits stormed into the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Berlin during the European Poker Tour Saturday.
Some reports say the robbers got away with 100,000 to 200,000 Euros when they raided the registration desk near the entrance of the hotel. Witnesses say they saw guns and machetes, but the thugs yelled that they also had grenades and bombs.
It was Day 4 of the event and cameras caught some of the panic inside the poker room as well as the chaos outside in the lobby. Watch how a security guard manages to take down one of the crooks, but releases him when he's charged by another outlaw wielding a metal pole.

Resorts World Sentosa is the first of 2 casinos built to help boost tourism in Singapore. This $4.7 billion project sits in a large resort center which includes a Universal Studios theme park, hotels, and convention centers. It hopes to attract families and businessmen, as well as high rolling gamblers from around the world.
The company behind this new casino is Genting Group and chairman Lim Kok Thay cut the ribbon at 11:18am, then placed his first bet on a game of baccarat. Visitors were welcomed in at 12:18pm. The times are symbolically lucky to the Chinese and the grand opening gala was held on the Chinese New Year.
Squeaky clean Singapore has long opposed gambling, worrying about increased crime and addiction. The government has tried to curb these concerns by charging a $70 entrance fee to local gamblers. There are no cover charges for foreigners. They've also banned ATMs from the casino floor.
A second casino, $5.5 billion Marina Bay Sands, is due to open in April.

Walter McGie of Kelso, Washington has been jailed for 2 counts of felony reckless driving. 70-year-old McGie claims he fainted while driving his 2007 Pontiac Vibe, resulting in a 60mph crash into the Edgewater Hotel & Casino Wednesday morning at 9:30am. 2 people were killed and 8 others were injured.
With all the car recalls lately, investigators are not ruling out the possiblity of a mechanical malfunction. Last month, unintended acceleration of 2009 and 2010 Vibes was caused by gas pedals getting stuck. There is no evidence that McGie applied the brakes prior to the crash.
Smashing through the glass doors, the car took out several rows of slot machines before stopping between the hotel registration desk and a cashier cage. "Slot machines were just everywhere, just wiped out, tumbled and tossed," said Bill Kinsey, fire division chief in Bullhead City, Arizona, which is not far from the casino's location in Laughlin, Nevada.

Lots of money, corruption, murder, and casinos. Sounds like a great film.
The long awaited documentary, Casino Jack and the United States of Money, opens in May. Director Alex Gibney admitted that Jack Abramoff had quite a complicated tale to tell, saying, "Our problem was too much story ... I may go in and try, oddly enough, to take some information out. Just so that people aren't relentlessly trying to catch up."
Kevin Spacey plays Jack Abramoff, whose treacherous travels took him from Hollywood producer, to lobbyist, to Indian casinos con artist, and finally to prison where he is today. His fradulent dealings in the SunCruz casinos scandal could have been a movie in itself. Fake wire transfers, million of dollars, and a mafia-style murder were all involved. That scam along with several others, including bribing public officials, landed him in prison with a 5 year sentence that he's been serving since 2006.
