While Japan's advancements in technology are practically unparalleled, the toys and gadgets they come up with are quite questionable.
First, we have the wasabi spraying smoke detector. Its creators wanted a solution to the problem of the hearing impaired not being able to hear smoke alarms while sleeping. Some genius cried out, "Let's soak them in a spicy spray of wasabi sauce!" Well, it doesn't actually spray the sauce; it simply emits a synthetic wasabi odor which wafts you awake.
Next, some Japanese Stress Balls. While they're not a new invention, you may not have seen ones like these before.

It was just another afternoon of bluffing, blinds and antes when six masked bandits stormed into the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Berlin during the European Poker Tour Saturday.
Some reports say the robbers got away with 100,000 to 200,000 Euros when they raided the registration desk near the entrance of the hotel. Witnesses say they saw guns and machetes, but the thugs yelled that they also had grenades and bombs.
It was Day 4 of the event and cameras caught some of the panic inside the poker room as well as the chaos outside in the lobby. Watch how a security guard manages to take down one of the crooks, but releases him when he's charged by another outlaw wielding a metal pole.

500 horsepower, mid-engine V8, 2 electric motors, and 78mpg... need we say more? The new Porsche 918 Spyder was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show and people are loving it.

Many are excited about the fancy stylized look, while others are awestruck over the acceleration of 0 to 62mph in 3.2 seconds. Also this Porsche has 4 driving options, all accessible with just a push of the buttons on the steering wheel.
The E-Drive mode is powered by electricity only and allows for 16 miles. Hybrid mode drives on both electric and gas, while Sport Hybrid mode boosts performance sending most of the power to the rear wheels. Then there's the Race Hybrid option which will get you to 200mph in no time.
High performance hybrids look to be the way of the future and the people are very pleased.

No gas tank? No tail pipe? No way!
Move over hybrids... the Nissan Leaf is a 100% battery powered electric car!

The Leaf can drive 100 miles per charge, and since 80% of U.S. drivers commute less than 62 miles each day, this car claims to be the perfect everyday vehicle. Convenient home charging units need only 4 to 8 hours to get the Leaf back on the road again. For longer trips, there will be quick charge stations, like gas stations, that will offer boosts to the battery in only 26 minutes. Nissan reports it will accelerate like a typical V6 car and reach speeds up to 90mph.
Prices have yet to be released but some test models may be seen on the roads this year, while they should be ready for mass production in 2012.

First Mastercard announced it would no longer allow their card holders to deposit funds on internet casino sites. Now Visa has followed suit, making it more challenging for players to place bets with online casinos.
This is due to the impending doom of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act which has been delayed until June. As more and more states are opening up to internet gambling, lawmakers have been feverishly coming up with ways around the act.
Iowa has plans to allow gamblers to open accounts at one of their 17 casinos, deposit the money in person, then be able to bet online with the money in those accounts. However, the bettor would have to go back to the casino to collect their winnings, or deposit more money.
For now, players can still use e-wallet payment options, such as Neteller and Moneybooker, where they can transfer money from their bank accounts into these third party accounts, which many online casinos allow for deposits.

Cherry Red Casino starts off strong with flashy, animated graphics and a sexy babe on the home page. This is a sister site of Rushmore Casino and resembles their excellent presentation. Player polls report that Cherry Red ranks among the top 7% of U.S. online casinos and the top 5% of gaming sites licensed in the Netherlands Antilles, which is where the owner Rushpod Investments is located.

Players like Cherry Red for the generous bonuses, reasonable wagering conditions, and wide range of games. It's rare to find cash bonuses for strategy-based games like blackjack and video poker, but Cherry Red offers a welcome bonus of 200% on those games, worth up to $1,200. There are also weekly reload bonuses and VIP rewards.

Resorts World Sentosa is the first of 2 casinos built to help boost tourism in Singapore. This $4.7 billion project sits in a large resort center which includes a Universal Studios theme park, hotels, and convention centers. It hopes to attract families and businessmen, as well as high rolling gamblers from around the world.
The company behind this new casino is Genting Group and chairman Lim Kok Thay cut the ribbon at 11:18am, then placed his first bet on a game of baccarat. Visitors were welcomed in at 12:18pm. The times are symbolically lucky to the Chinese and the grand opening gala was held on the Chinese New Year.
Squeaky clean Singapore has long opposed gambling, worrying about increased crime and addiction. The government has tried to curb these concerns by charging a $70 entrance fee to local gamblers. There are no cover charges for foreigners. They've also banned ATMs from the casino floor.
A second casino, $5.5 billion Marina Bay Sands, is due to open in April.
